Visit Blue Star Contemporary for the opening reception of five new exhibitions! Monarchs: Brown and Native Contemporary Artists in the Path of the Butterfly, cohosted by Blue Star Contemporary and Southwest School of Art and guest curated by Risa Puleo, uses the migratory path of the monarch butterfly as a geographic framework and conceptual metaphor. Color of Confusion features 3 video works by renowned Paris-based artist, Sylvie Blocher and is guest curated by David S. Rubin. These videos address issues of cultural identity and representation through community collaboration. Gesamtkunstwerk reflects artist Jesse Amado’s varied experiences during his BSC Berlin Residency at the Künstlerhaus Bethanian. Adriana Corral’s Unearthed: Desenterrado, is presented as a participant of For Freedoms: 50 State Initiative and Illustrates the complex history between the United States and Mexico. Finally, the BSC MOSAIC Student Artist Program presents Transitions.
